# Byakko #

Byakko is a polished magazine theme with plenty of features. Add featured images to catch the reader's eye, add secondary content into three different widget areas, include links to your social media pages, Byakko can do it all.

## Compatibility Note

As Byakko makes use of Flexbox, it will only work on Internet Explorer 9 or later. This will not be changing.

## Features ##

* Specific posts can be highlighted on the home page (requires [Jetpack](http://jetpack.me))
* A social media menu

## Featured Content ##

The Featured Content menu will not appear in the Customizer unless you have [Jetpack](http://jetpack.me) installed, because the plugin includes the [required code](http://jetpack.me/support/featured-content/).

No special Jetpack module is needed and a WordPress.com connection is not required for this feature to function. You can use this feature on a localhost installation of WordPress if you add this line to `wp-config.php`:

`define( 'JETPACK_DEV_DEBUG', true );`

### If You Aren't Using Featured Content ###

If you aren't using the featured content module, it is recommended that you set a static front page by going to your Dashboard, going to Appearance > Customize > Static Front Page, and selecting "A front page". Then, select the appropriate page from the combo box labeled "Front Page". Both the contents of the chosen page and 4 recent articles will appear.

## Social Media Menu ##

This theme uses a social media menu that's integrated with WordPress' custom menu system. To create a social media menu, follow these steps:

1. Go to your Dashboard and then go to Appearance > Menus. Create a new menu and name it whatever you'd like.

2. Select "Links" from the accordion menu on the left (where it says "Pages", "Links", and "Categories"), and in the text boxes marked "URL", enter your URL. For example, for Twitter, you would write https://twitter.com/your-twitter-username.

3. Click the "Add to Menu" button. Repeat for every social media network you'd like to add.

4. Once your menu is created, click the "Save Menu" button, and then click on the "Manage Locations" tab near the top of the screen. Assign your newly-created menu to the "Social Media Menu" location.

### Supported Networks ###

Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram, GitHub. Unsupported social networks appear with a generic star icon.
