BuddyLite is a bright, lightweight child-theme for Buddypress 1.2.6. (For BP1.2.5 installs, visit http://BuddyLite.com to download the appropriate version.)The main features of the theme include a fully widgetized homepage template and a widgetized footer template. The Global Unified search function by <a href="http://buddydev.com/buddypress/creating-the-sitewide-globalunified-search-page-for-your-buddypress-theme/">Brajesh Singh</a> is also included.

This theme was designed to be used with my <a href="http://buddypress.org/community/groups/add-all-nav-links-to-bp-adminbar/home/">Add-All-Nav-Links-to-BP-Adminbar</a> plugin for full WP3 custom menu support and streamlined, integrated navigation (main nav plus adminbar in the same unit). The theme will work just fine as-is but, as bp-default does not support custom menus, neither will BuddyLite without the plugin.

To activate the widgetized homepage, create a page in Wordpress and select "Custom Widget Home Page" from the "Templates" dropdown under "Page Attributes". The go to "Settings" > "Reading" and select the page you just created from the "Front page displays" dropdown. To make your page content appear, you must place at least one full-width widget on the page; "Homepage-Top" or "Homepage-Bottom".

To activate the widgetized footer, simply change the name of footerOPTIONAL.php to footer.php and re-upload the file.
