Blue News Wordpress Theme

Blue News is a clean style magazine wordpress theme. This theme is suiteable to use for news or magazine website. 1. Installing The Theme

Theme Installation

Step 1) Located within the files you downloaded inside the 'themes' folder there is a folder named 'blue-news'. This is the folder and contents you will need to upload to your webserver. If you already have wordpress installed and running on your domain, then you will need to place this folder ('blue-news') in the folder found in your web directories path which looks somewhat like this '/wp-content/themes/'.

Step 2) Once the folder 'blue-news' has been uploaded inside of the folder '/wp-content/themes/', you can then login to your wordpress admin and go to themes to click on and activate the blue-news theme.

2. Setting Up The Theme

After activate the theme, you can change the theme settings. Login to wordpress admin, choose "Appearance" then "Theme Options".

Blue News Theme Options:

General Settings

Logo Type: You can choose to use "default" wordpress blog title or "image" as logo.

Logo Image: If you choose to use "image" for logo, you can put your logo image location url here, it will automatically change the default Blue News Logo.

RSS Feed URL : Enter your full url of your rss feed or leave blank for default wordpress rss feed url.

Top Banner Image: Enter the full url of 468x60px banner image location.

Top Banner URL: Enter the full link url of 468x60px banner click destination.

Ads 125x125 : Just install and activate WP125 plugin and the 125 ads in the right sidebar will work.

Homepage Settings

Headline Category : Choose the category for the homepage headline post. It will be slide between three latest post in this category.

Featured Category : Choose the category for the homepage featured post. It will show the latest three latest post in this category.

Navigation Settings

Top Menu Exclude : You can exclude which categories that will not show in the main menu by put the page ID here, choose several categories separate by comma ( , ).

3. Pages and Templates

There is no additional templates for page, just use the wordpress default page.

4. Widget and Sidebar

There are two sidebar position in the right side.

5. Creating a Post

Creating a Post for Blog Page

In the admin section create your post as you normally would.

Post Image

  1. When editing or creating a new post, click on the Insert Image icon to upload a new image.
  2. Upload your image using 'WordPress' built-in image uploader.
  3. When your image has successfully been uploaded, click on File URL. A URL should appear in the field above the button (Link URL field).
    Copy the value start "wp-content", so the copied value should like "wp-content/uploads/2009/11/image.jpg". The thumbnail will automatically created use timthumb.
  4. Go back to the post editing screen. Under Custom Fields, create a new one by entering image as the name and paste the URL that you have copied into the value field.
  5. Save the field and you are done!
