ANTIARIS WORDPRESS THEME README by Syahir Hakim http://www.khairul-syahir.com ==INTRODUCTION== Brought to you by the developer of the Graphene theme, the Antiaris theme draws upon the vast experience and countless feedbacks gained from the development of the Graphene theme. As a result, Antiaris is really a premium theme made available for free, as a gift to the WordPress community. Its design and configurable options are specifically implemented to make the theme suitable for use as both a blogging platform and a corporate website. This theme has been tested and confirmed compatible with Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, Apple Safari, and Internet Explorer 7 and above. ==THEME REQUIREMENTS== This theme requires WordPress version 3.0 or newer. ==USING THE THEME FOR NON-BLOG WEBSITES== The default settings for the theme is preconfigured for use in a blog rather than a normal website. However, the theme can also be used for normal websites, and it's best to take note of the following information to help facilitate the configuration and setup of the theme. 1. Site Summary Panel The theme incorporates what is called a Site Summary Panel. By default, this panel shows: i) the latest post in each category that can be selected by the user ii) the latest posts, the most popular posts (based on number of comments), the latest comments, and 35 tags Non-blog websites may not want the Site Summary Panel to show the default settings above. For this reason, the Site Summary Panel is implemented in such a way that you can choose from the 3 types of display: 1. Summary for a blog (default settings, content is as listed above) 2. Summary for a blog, but the latest post in each category is replaced by a slider 3. Full-width slider Non-blog websites most probably would want the Site Summary to show the full-width slider. The content of the slider can be configured in the "Posts Slider" option in the theme's Options page. For the image that is shown in the slider, please see the Post Thumbnail and Post Images section below. 2. Static Front Page and Homepage Panes By default, the front page displays a list of the latest posts in the website. For use in a non-blog websites, it is best to use a static front page. Instructions on how to implement a static front page can be found in the WordPress Codex, at this link: http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page When the site is configured to use a Static Front Page, the theme automatically displays what is called "Homepage Panes" under the content of the page being used as the static front page. Homepage panes can be configured in the theme's options page to display either the latest posts, or the latest posts by category, or specific posts and/or pages. You can also specify the number of panes to be displayed via the theme's options page. ==POST THUMBNAIL AND POST IMAGES== 1. Custom image sizes The theme adds a few custom image sizes so that images that are uploaded will be resized into those custom image sizes, in addition to the WordPress' default image sizes. These custom image sizes are added because the theme displays post images in many places, such as in posts listing pages, the Homepage Panes, and the Sliders. The size of the image dislayed in each of these places are different, so having Wordpress resize the images is best for both performance and aesthetics, compared to resizing the images using HTML and/or CSS. It is important to note that WordPress does not resize images that have been previously uploaded. If you already have a lot of content in your WordPress site, it is recommended that the images that have been uploaded previously be resized to include the new custom image sizes. This can be done easily and automatically by using the AJAX Thumbnail Rebuild plugin by junkcoder, which can be downloaded at this link: http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/ajax-thumbnail-rebuild/ 2. Which image is being displayed For places where the posts images is shown, the theme gives priority to the Post Thumbnail or the Featured Image that is set for that particular post. If no Post Thumbnail of Featured Image is set for the post, the theme displays the first image that is uploaded for that particular post, as defined by the menu order in the post's gallery. ==LICENCE AND COMMERCIAL USE== The theme is released under the GPLv3 licence, which means (among others) that you may use the theme for whatever purposes, including commercial, without obligations to the theme's author. It also means that you can modify the theme in whatever way you like, and redistribute either the original theme or a modified version of the theme, provided that you release it under the same licence it is originally released with, which is the GPLv3 licence. A copy of the licence can be found in the license.txt file in the theme's folder.
