Setting Up The Slider

Android for Life comes with unique and easy to use slider. To set up slider go to Slider> Add New

In the "Add New Slide" page there are 4 Boxes:

Title: Enter the title of the slide in the first post.

Slide Image: Upload the image of the slide in this box. Click on "Set featured image". A pop-up window will appear. Click on Select files button and select your slide image. After uploading the file click on the "Use as featured image" button.
For Easyslider - The dimension of your slider image should be 960px by 300px.

Excerpt: Write the slide description here. Keep it within 2 lines.

Link: Set the link of the slide here. This link will be integrated with slide's title. The link can be internal or external. If you want to link a slide to one of your posts, put the link of the post here.

1. Featured Posts

Featured Posts displays specified number of posts from a specified category in your sidebars. The Options for this widget are:
Title: Set the title of the widget.
Category of Posts: Select the category of the featured posts
Number of Posts: Default is 3; increase the number if you want more than 3 posts to show up in the widget.

2. Popular Posts

Popular Posts widget displays number of popular posts in the sidebar. There are two options to set:
Title: Set the title of the widget.
Number of Posts: Default is 3; increase the number if you want more than 3 posts to show up in the widget.

3. Random Posts

Random Posts widget displays number of random posts in the sidebar. There are two options to set:
Title: Set the title of the widget.
Number of Posts: Default is 3; increase the number if you want more than 3 posts to show up in the widget.

Custom Button Shortcode

Write your button text and select the text then click the quote button. It will Produce this:

Click the quote quote icon in the post editor to add quote.

To add facebook like button click on the adsense button, this will add [fblike]

Youtube Video Shortcode

Click on the youtube button to add youtube video.

In width set the width and in height set the height of your video. The default is 640x385 . In video Id put your youtube video ID.

Vimeo Video Shortcode

Click the vimeo button to add vimeo video.

In width set the width and in height set the height of your video. The default is 640x385. In video Id put your youtube video ID.

The Post Thumbnails

The post thumbnails of Android for Life works this way: If a post doesn't have a "Featured Image" set, it will search for attached Image of the post and display it, if the post doesn't have an attached image too the default blank image will be displayed.

To set the Featured Image of a post go to Post edtior page and at the right side of the post editor, you will find the Featured Image box. Upload the featured Image and click "use as featured image" link after uploading.

Setting Up The Menu

One of the coolest new features in WordPress 3.0 is the custom navigation menus built into the WordPress core.

Android for Life has two menu poisitions:

  1. Primary Navigation
  2. Footer Navigation

Setting Up The Page Templates

Android for Life has 3 Page Templates:

  1. Contact Page
  2. Page with Left Sidebar
  3. Page with No Sidebar

You can select page templates only for Pages. To set up page template for a page in the page editor on the right side you will find a box called "Page Attributes". Select any one from the 3 templates from the Template drop-down menu.

Note:The Contact page does not require any 3rd party plugin or anything. Just select the page template and when people sends messgae through the contact form it will be sent directly to your email(the one you used to setup wordpress) within seconds.
